Privacy Policy

Last updated 16 July 2026

This policy explains what The Quest collects, why, and what happens to it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legalese.

1. What We Collect

Your wallet address. Required. It identifies your account and it is where your ADA rewards are sent.

Your profile. A username and, optionally, an avatar image and a linked X handle. You choose all of these.

Your activity. Missions you post, missions you claim, proof you submit, and the XP and rank you accumulate.

Proof you upload. Text, links, and images you attach to a submission. Images are stored with our media provider (Cloudinary).

Basic technical data. Standard server and network logs generated when you load the site.

We do not collect your seed phrase or private keys. We never ask for them. Nobody legitimate ever will.

2. Why We Collect It

  • To run the platform: matching hunters to missions, showing the board, releasing payouts.
  • To verify you control your wallet, via a signed message.
  • To display your public record, contributions, and leaderboard position.
  • To detect abuse, fraud, and manipulation of rewards or rankings.

We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising against it.

3. What Is Public

By design, a lot of The Quest is public:

  • Your username, avatar, and rank.
  • Missions you post and missions you complete.
  • Your contribution history and leaderboard position.
  • Proof attached to a completed mission, where the mission calls for it.

Treat anything you submit as visible to everyone.

4. What Is Permanent and Public Forever

Completed missions are written to the Cardano blockchain. Blockchain records are public, immutable, and replicated across nodes worldwide.

We cannot delete, edit, or redact anything that is already on-chain. No one can. This is a property of the technology, not a policy choice — and it applies even if you later delete your account. Your wallet address and the transactions associated with it are permanently public and can be inspected by anyone using a blockchain explorer.

Please understand this before you complete a mission.

5. Where It Lives

Account and mission data is stored in our database (Supabase). Uploaded images are stored with Cloudinary. Blockchain data is queried through Blockfrost. These providers process data on our behalf and may store it outside your country.

6. Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary for the platform to function — keeping you signed in and remembering which network (mainnet or testnet) you are viewing. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

7. Your Choices

  • Edit your profile. Change your username, avatar, or linked X handle at any time in settings.
  • Unlink your X account. At any time, in settings.
  • Change your wallet. Link a different wallet in settings.
  • Delete your account. Contact us via Discord. We will remove your off-chain profile data. As set out in section 4, on-chain records cannot be removed.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your data — access, correction, portability, or erasure of off-chain data. Contact us and we will do our best to honour them.

8. Retention

We keep off-chain account data for as long as your account exists. Mission and payout records are retained after account deletion where we need them for integrity of the public ledger, dispute history, or legal obligations.

9. Children

The Quest is not intended for anyone under 18. Do not use the platform if you are under 18.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
